  • Individuals and Families in temporary Crisis.
  • Individuals and families with a chronic need due to a permanent disability with insufficientt income to meet essential needs.
  • Individuals and families with chronic need due to low income (the working poor).
  • Senior Citizens with a chronic need due to insufficient income to meet essential needs.


  • Household income must not exceed 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines
  • Photo ID or Driver’s License
  • Proof of residence in Bristow or surrounding area – in your name with your address: Current Utility bill:  gas, electric or water or Current rent receipt/mortgage payment
  • Social Security card for applicant and card for everyone in the household
  • Proof of income for each person in the household:  Last two pay stubs or Social Security Benefit letter for each person or SSI benefit letter or another award letter
  • Birthdates for each member of the householdI
  • REQUESTING UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE.
  • Pictures/copies of the entire utility bill for which you need help paying (electricity, gas and/or water). The whole bill must be in the picture.
  •  Bills should include name, address, utility account number, amount due and service dates.
  • The name on the bills should match the name of one or more on the photo ID(s) you are submitting.
  • The address on the bills must match the address on your online application.
  • Cut-Off Notice
  • F REQUESTING RENT PAYMENT ASSISTANCE...
  • Current Lease Agreement
  • Late Rate Notice, including amount due
  • Form W-9 from the Property Owner


  •  Utility:  once every 6 months on cut off notice only
  • Prescription:  Once every 120 days. No assistance for schedule II drugs, no muscle relaxants, no mood elevators, and no refils.
  • Food:  Once every 60 days or once every 30 days for senior citizens.  Variety of food offered is based on donations.
  • Clothing:  Once every 90 days – 5 items per household member
  • Rent:  Once every 90 days.
  • Diapers/Other Infant Supplies:  Once every 90 days.
  • School Supplies:  Annually
  • Christmas:  Annually

Food

BSS accepts the client's with a referral from DHS, proof of income, proof of residence, a valid photo ID for each adult in the household and shot records or birth certificate for children. Clients may complete their shopping Food orders are filled according to available foods, as well as the size of the household. Once every other 60 Days for individuals under 55, individuals 55 years of age and older are served monthly.

Utility Assistance

Clients must have a photo ID, proof of residence, proof of income, a copy of the most recent Utility Bill and Cut-Off Notice. Clients can receive assistance once every six months; when funds are available, partial payment of an electric, gas, propane or water bill may be made.

Prescription Medications

Medication subsidies are available for life threatening illnesses with a written prescription from a physician. Clients must have a valid photo ID, proof of residence, proof of income, a copy of the prescription. Bristow Social Services does not assist with Painkillers, Antidepressants, and/or Psychotropic Drugs. Clients can receive assistance once quarterly or every 4 months.
